Kindred Earth
Kindred Earth promotes a low impact, sustainable lifestyle. One without toxic products and ingredients and instead enhanced by plants and the elements.
Mission
Kindred Earth’s mission is to help individuals reduce the toxic load on their bodies and the environment through education and personalized coaching. By clearly identifying concerning ingredients, misleading products, and their impact, we empower people to make informed choices that foster healthier homes and lifestyles. Equally important is our dedication to reconnecting people with the natural world—its medicines, cycles, and gifts—highlighting the profound healing, preventive, and enhancing power inherent in plants and ecosystems. Through this dual focus, we strive to facilitate a balanced approach: minimizing exposure to harmful substances while embracing the abundant wisdom and benefits nature offers, ultimately fostering well-being in both individuals and the earth.
Why
There is a difference between chronic exposure and acute exposure. Many of the studies people refer to when arguing that a chemical is safe are studies where a high dose of the chemical is used over a short period of time. It is now being discovered that these two are not comparable. With all the illnesses in the world now we are learning that low dose long term exposure of harmful ingredients and toxins are very big threats to our health. In the same way that constant inflammation leads to autoimmune disorders, cancers, etc., and persistent stress can cause digestive issues, heart disease, mental health disruption, etc., chronic exposure to harmful ingredients form our foods, lotions, shampoos, clothes, soaps, air quality, water, etc. can lead to a plethora of issues. Our bodies are built to remove toxins yes, but with the sheer amount of them in our lifestyle today the body can’t keep up. So it is up to the individual to reduce the load and support their bodies in the ways they can.
As well is making us sick, these toxins are making the earth sick. We hace to take responsibility as citizens to stop polluting and damaging the earth we live on. We are a t a crisis point. It is not a trend to be living clean and organic, but a responsibility.
With this in mind, along with how overwhelming and time consuming it can be trying to navigate the ingredient lists, health issues, regulations etc., Kindred Earth was born. Kindred will guide on to create this sustainable and low toxin life.
Philosophy
Mass production is disrupting and damaging the ecosystem. Over consumption is depleting the earth’s resources. Over productivity and over stimulation is causing chronic stress and illness. We have become obsessed with productivity, convenience and consuming at the expense of our health and the earth’s health. It’s a cycle that is hard to break from. These fast paced lifestyles of stress make us reach for items of convenience without knowing the impact of them. A massive commercial industry that drowns out true knowledge makes us loose sight of what is natural, good and real. We no longer can discern what we truly need and instead are reaching for things we don’t need, things that are cheap, and things that are convenient and toxin. We are choosing items and products that deplete the earth and damage our bodies.
With the benefits that come with advancement in chemical manufacturing, the consequences of our over use of them is well ignored. All this chemical use, mass production and mass consumerism is coming at a great cost. It is wiping out bacteria, microbes, species, ecosystems and making us and the earth sick. It is causing irreversible damage. It is each of our responsibility to stop contributing to this damage in the ways we can. We believe we each have the power to make an impact by making choices on what we support, on how much we consume, on reducing our own toxic impact, and to look after you patch of earth, be that your body and your home.
Nature had systems long before our input and ‘great’ ideas . We need to turn back to her and enhance our lives with her resources instead of destroying them. We need to stop our over use and over dependence on synthetic chemicals and use the natural elements nature has given us.
Some facts & figures on toxins in our world today
In 2019, WHO estimated 2 million deaths and 53 million DALYs (disability adjusted life years, aka healthy years lost) globally because of exposure to certain well‑studied chemicals.
Children are most vulnerable. Children under 15 suffer 54% of the DALYs from exposure to certain chemicals.
One in 3 children have dangerously high blood lead levels, which has been linked to lower intelligence quotient scores and behavioural problems.
In 2021, 8.1 million deaths were from air pollution (outdoor and household), becoming the second leading risk factor for death worldwide.
Some chemicals damage organisms’ reproductive systems, developmental stages. This can reduce species’ reproduction, weaken populations.
A report (published in The Lancet) estimated that plastic pollution generates about US$1.5 trillion/year in health damages globally including through exposure to microplastics, toxic additives, air pollution from burning plastic, etc.
Use of pesticides (like DDT) are causing large declines in bird populations, causing some to go extinct.
Pollution and chemical toxins are one factor among many (habitat loss, invasive species, climate change) driving declines in biodiversity. Polluted habitats are less resilient.
Amphibians are most vulnerable because of permeable skin and dual life (aquatic + land). Pollution contributes to reproductive problems, deformities, higher mortality. Many species are now at risk of extinction.
